Templebreedy has a great student, parent and community involvement in the ASF process and in the everyday events of the school. We set up our Active School Committee back at the start of the year, with an overwhelming number of students wishing to be involved. The committee was decided on with one student from each class from 2nd-6th class (2 pupils from 4th class) We felt it was really important that the pupils were given a voice and had their say in the implementation of the flag.
We display all our active information on our Active Schools board and we especially like to praise our students when they achieve something outside of school, whether it be a big or small achievement. We are just as proud of our students who cycle from Crosshaven to Carrigaline for the first time that we are of the students who compete in high-level sports and activities out of school. Any achievement the children have completed we display on our Well Done Wall.
Our suggestion box is placed in the corridor outside of Ms.Jefferys room and we encourage the other children to put in their suggestions. Once a month the ASC meets and we go through suggestions and discuss them and whether they are feasible or not.
We have parents involved in coaching/ organizing all sorts of events throughout the year from hockey matches/tournaments to swimming galas. We are very lucky to have such an enthusiastic community. We had a visit from Olympian Lizzie Lee last year who gave us a great insight into the dedication and training involved in being an Olympic athlete and we also had Damien come and talk to us about our bones and keeping fit and healthy.
